Taking screenshots on mobile is quite easy but what about HP Laptop? Screenshots are often needed for various reasons. Sometimes you want it to save a picture from some Social Media Post or maybe while watching some news on YouTube etc. Sometimes you want a screenshot of some important document like a Bill Receipt or Bank Transaction Record.

Taking screenshots on your HP laptop is quite easy! There are a few methods to take screenshots on HP laptops. The method can be different depending on your Windows version. Here below I will be explaining how to screenshot on HP Laptop:

For Windows 10 and 11:

There are a few built-in methods or tricks that can help you take screenshots on HP Laptops.

Method 1: Using the Print Screen key:

Locate the Print Screen key on your keyboard. It’s usually in the top right corner of the keyboard, above the function keys. Normally the key has “PrtScn” written on it but it can be different on different laptops and models. My laptop key has “PrntScrn” and other variations can be “PrtSc”, “PrtScrn”, “PrtScn/SysRq”.

Open the window or screen you want to capture.

  • Press the Print Screen key once. This captures the entire screen and copies it to your clipboard. NOTE: Sometimes Print Screen key functions in combination with the Function Key. Now the question is how would you know if the Print Screen Key functions with the Fn key? Well, the answer is not difficult. If your Print Screen has any of the variant text mentioned above as main text then it will work directly. If the Print Screen text is written under the main text then it will work in combination with “Fn” key. Check the image below where “Print Screen” will work with “Fn” key as “END” is the main function of the key, and “Print Screen” is the secondary function that will work when “Fn” key is pressed.

  • Open an image editing program like Paint or Microsoft Word.
  • Press Ctrl + V to paste the screenshot.
  • Edit and save the screenshot as a file (like a PNG or JPG).

Method 2: Using the Windows key + Print Screen Shortcut:

Similar to above, open the window or screen you want to capture.

  • Press the Windows key and the Print Screen key simultaneously.
  • This directly saves the screenshot as a file named “Screenshot [number]” in the Pictures > Screenshots folder. No need to paste it anymore!

Method 3: Snipping Tool

There’s a built-in app in your Windows Operating System called “Snipping Tool”. You can find it easily by pressing the “Windows” key and typing “Snipping Tool”. The app will appear in the Start section. You can open it from there. This method is easy as well.

  • Open the window that you want to capture.
  • Open the Snipping Tool from Start or use the shortcut key “Windows + Shift + S” to open the Snipping Tool directly.
  • Now snipping options will appear at the top of the screen and the screen will fade as well.
    • You can draw a rectangle by dragging through the Mouse Left Click to capture a part of the screen.
    • You can draw a random figure/shape using Mouse.
    • You can capture a screenshot of the complete window.
  • As you will take a screenshot, a window will appear that will let you edit your screenshot. You can add text, ink, or shapes to the screenshot which makes Snipping Tool the best option to take screenshots on HP Laptop.

Method 4: Windows Gaming Console

Windows 10 and 11 have Gaming Options which are quite handy for gamers who love to stream their gaming experience. This hidden Windows app has several features and one of them is Screenshot.

  • The Shortcut Key to the Windows Gaming Console is “Windows + G”
  • As the gaming console opens, you will have several options on your screen.
  • Look for the “Camera” icon which normally appears at the top left corner of the screen.
  • As you click on the “Camera” icon, the screenshot will be taken and saved automatically.

Additional Tips:

Some HP laptops might have dedicated screenshot buttons or keyboard shortcuts. Check your user manual or manufacturer’s website for details.

If you’re using an older version of Windows (7 or 8), the methods might be slightly different. But the Print Screen button has been there since always. So, you can use Method 1 to take screenshots on HP Laptops.
